Masters Swimming Australia Coach of the Year 2019 Award

Greg Gourley, MSA Coach of the Year 2019

This national award recognises the huge amount of work that Greg has done in his coaching role within both Tuggeranong Masters Swimming ACT as a club and acknowledges Greg's outstanding contribution to coaching and towards the development of coaching at all levels of Masters Swimming within Australia.

Greg had an outstanding year in coaching in 2019. Through the active development of his coaching knowledge, he made a significant contribution towards progressing swimmers at a club level but most notably was actively involved in developing coaches and swimmers at a Branch level through the running of many workshops throughout NSW.

Greg has been involved in masters swimming with Tuggeranong Vikings Masters not only as a swimmer, technical official, and coach for many years but also as club president.  As a collaborative leader, he is an integral part of the Tuggeranong Masters coaching team and has assisted in developing the Tuggeranong year planner including macro and micro-cycles.

Greg is an innovative coach and his swim sessions are always thoroughly planned with a focus, ensuring differentiation for all swimmers’ goals and abilities.  One of Greg’s main goals is to foster inclusion and cohesion in the club and to make it fun!

Greg was also involved in running the ACT Branch of Masters Swimming for a number of years before it became part of NSW Branch. Greg is hugely active in the local open water swimming community here in the ACT and NSW as well and has swum the 9k National Capital Swim as a solo swimmer many times.

Thank you, Greg, for your wonderful contribution to Masters Swimming in 2019... you are a very well deserved winner!
