Tuggeranong BPS Meet | 15 September 2018

Round 11 of the MSNSW Branch Pointscore (BPS) series was hosted at Lakeside Leisure Centre, Tuggeranong by Tuggeranong Vikings on Saturday 15 September 2018. The pre-event (and post-event) efforts put in by our usual team of stalwart volunteers (including some who were helping to plan the show from a hospital bed, or while holidaying overseas) well and truly paid off, with a great field of over 90 swimmers arriving from Sydney, Wagga Wagga, the Hunter and the Illawarra! Fantastic work by our volunteers, and a fantastic turnout of swimmers!

The spring-time sun streaming onto the pool deck at the northern end of the complex meant we had a fabulous environment for a day’s swimming, and with all Vikings officials now re-accredited and fully up to speed, thanks to Ann Reid, the meet ran like clockwork, with the schedule of events only broken up by numerous diversions to and from the overflowing catering tables, and by the well-received raffles.

A big thank you to the numerous club members who donated raffle prizes, as well as to our local business supporters (including Woolworths at Tuggeranong and Conder, Bunnings Warehouse, CrossFit, Samantha Young Photography, AquaShop, Limelight Cinemas, the Vikings Group and our hosts at the Lakeside Leisure Centre). Not too sure what the YMCA staff thought about all those raffle winners clutching their bottles of wine!

As always, the day was wrapped up with a relaxed post-event dinner and drinks at Tuggeranong Vikings Town Centre Club, proving again that there’s much more to Masters Swimming than just swimming!
