MSNSW State Long Distance SC Championships 2019

The 2019 Long Distance “Champs”

Over the weekend of 7/8 September 2019, seven women and one brave man made the trip to Sydney to represent the mighty Vikings at the NSNSW State Long Distance SC Championships.

As usual, they were also accompanied by a long-term 'Viking partner' and regular volunteer, Pete S.

The event was hosted at Knox Grammar School's aquatic centre at Wahroonga, Sydney.

Sunday was a hugely successful day for the strong Vikings contingent, with the team finishing third place overall (behind the hosts, Warringah, and Blacktown) and third place for average points per swimmer (behind Blue Mountains and Merrylands).

Ann Reid set the day in motion by competing in and completing the 1500m Butterfly - winning her category!

Another highlight was watching four Vikings lining up together in the 800m freestyle. All you could hear was “Go Vikings” when Atsuko, Caz, Anne S, and Richard were lined up side-by-side on the blocks. Fabulous to see the Vikings swim caps so prominent in their heat, and fabulous to see all four finishing in the top half of the results.

Notably, as well as great individual results, Richard, Atsuko, Kylie, Katrina, and Donna all achieved new club records.

Full event results are available on the Masters Swimming NSW website.
